Bulverde is a short drive from downtown San Antonio, yet it boasts fantastic views of Texas Hill Country. Lying north-northeast of downtown San Antonio, outdoor activities, restaurants, antique shopping, and more.
In fact, the motto of the City of Bulverde is, “Front porch of the Texas hill country”. The town was originally called Piepers Settlement, after a German settler. Bulverde, as it is known today, is a young city; it was not incorporated until the late 1990s.
Bulverde is located in the southwestern part of Comal County, just over the line from Bexar County which is home to San Antonio. It lies in Texas Hill Country and offers a variety of outdoor activities with magnificent views of the hills.
Route 281 runs along the eastern edge of Bulverde, with several highway onramps from town. The freeway goes right into downtown San Antonio – a 20-minute drive. The larger suburbs of San Antonio are closer, with all the big city shopping and other amenities they have to offer.
Traveling southeast from Bulverde takes you into New Braunfels while going north on Route 281 takes you to deeper into Texas Hill Country. With so much to see and do in Bulverde and surrounding areas, you can never get bored.
Right around the corner from your new house, is a lot of man-made activity in Bulverde. But don’t discount the opportunity to spend time outdoors, especially in the springtime when the wildflowers are spectacular.
If you don’t mind driving a few minutes, you can avail yourself of all that San Antonio has to offer. Malls, museums, concerts, street festivals, theme parks, fine dining and nightclubs – you name it!
If that’s not enough, take a little road trip: Austin – the capital of Texas – is less than 90 miles away. Heck – drive for under 3 hours in the opposite direction and enjoy the Gulf Coast beaches!
